Kids crafts that are worth the mess

Crafts on Pixieandpop have to earn the mess. Before we publish a project, we ask how long it takes, what it costs, how much cleanup it leaves, and whether a kid will care about the finished thing once the glue is dry.

Most of our kids crafts use supplies you probably have: cardboard boxes, toilet-paper tubes, paper plates, washable paint, masking tape, and the bag of pom-poms every house seems to own. When a project needs something specific, we’ll say so upfront, so you’re not halfway through before finding out you need a glue gun.

We’ll mark which crafts suit toddlers, which work for school-age kids, and which ones siblings can do side by side. We’ll note safety points too, like hot glue, small beads with little ones nearby, or scissors for kids still learning.

And we’ll keep reminding you that crooked is fine. The point is the making, not the photo.
